My drawing centered, interdisciplinary studio practice is informed by automatic drawing and intuitive mark-making. An interdisciplinary practice allows me to fully explore themes of growth, renewal, transformation, and the connections between all life forms. Automatic drawing facilitates a place to reflect upon the relationship of the visible exterior landscape of natural forms to the invisible internal landscape of the body. I have been actively exhibiting my work for over four decades and my artwork is held in private collections internationally. After a 30 year teaching career in colleges and art museums in Los Angeles, I recently relocated to Boulder, CO where my focus is community engagement and connecting with the land.
My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.
Inspired by fluid movement and organic form, my works are improvisational mappings of moving meditations and an exploration of the emerging unexpected. My generation of imagery through movement is energized by my Continuum Movement practice, using sound and breath to stimulate the fluid system in the body. Our interaction with nature and our interaction with one another, inspires movement generated drawings, paintings, installations, and collaborative performance.
My love of color, fluidity, and spontaneity has led me to create drawings and paintings in a variety of media including graphite, watercolor, oil pastel, oil bar, oil and acrylic paint on surfaces such as paper, transparent vellum, wood panel and canvas. My love of light, color and improvisation has led me to create live visual effects in collaborative performances as well as interactive installations and public art.
Highlights include collaborative performances in Los Angeles at REDCAT in Disney Hall, the Museum of Contemporary Art and, with Rachel Rosenthal’s TOHUBOHU! Extreme Theater Ensemble. I recently participated in Draw To Perform, an international artist residency, in Brighton, England. I’ve also created numerous temporary public art installations in LA and Long Beach, CA, Albuquerque, NM, and Minneapolis, MN. My work has been featured in ArtScene, Artweek, Artillery, THE Magazine, LA Times, Glendale News Press, Long Beach Press Telegram, Albuquerque Journal, and Pensacola News Journal, Fox News, and CBS News.
